INWARD NAVIGATION

⊙ A UNIVERSAL WORKING MODEL ⊙
⊙ RELATE THE MIND, BODY, EGO AND SOUL ⊙
⊙ REALIZE THE ABSOLUTE, ENJOY THE RELATIVE ⊙

FOR EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD REGARDLESS OF GENDER, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, CULTURAL BACKGROUND, RELIGIOUS BACKGROUND OR ETHNICITY.

Navigator | Captain | Crew | Ship

The Captain represents the Conscious Mind. The Crew represents the Subconscious Mind. The Ship represents the Body. The Ego in this working model is defined as the Self Image. The Navigator is our link to the Source of time and space; the Source of all things.

  • Inward Navigation uses a universal working model to relate the mind, body, soul and ego to each other. This goes for every man, woman and child regardless of gender, sexual orientation, cultural background, religious background or skin color.

It uses a metaphor of a ship at sea for an individual going through life. The sea and wind represent the constant change of the unknown that carries the present moment. Our repeated actions, or habits, form the course of our ship. Based on past and current habits, one can calculate a projected destination, or destiny. So when we change our habits, we change our projected destination or destiny.

The Captain represents the Conscious Mind. This relates to the left hemisphere of the brain which houses logic, linear and critical thinking, language and words, analytical thinking and dealing with the outside world. It represents the processes of the mind that we can consciously experience. The Captain interprets information from the outside world and translates it to the inside world, and vice versa. It relates to the Subconscious Mind by leading it. Every thought is like and order coming from the bridge of the ship that the Crew then acts upon.

The Crew represents the Subconscious Mind. This relates to the right hemisphere of the brain which houses creative, intuitive and associative thought, emotions, the imagination and maintaining bodily functions. The Crew is noncritical, meaning it follows the orders of the Captain without scrutiny or reserve. The Crew is also much larger in capacity than the Captain. Where the Captain is one, the Crew is formed by many. Among the different parts of the Crew there is usually no active communication. By connecting and updating these different parts of the Crew many mental and physical symptoms of underlying causes can be resolved.

The Ship represents the Body. The ship is the vessel for our earthly adventure. It houses the Captain and the Crew.

The Ego in this working model is defined as the Self Image. The image that the Captain and Crew hold of themselves and their Ship, often shows discrepancies with reality. The bigger the gap between the Image and reality, the greater the suffering. With Inward Navigation we aim to identify this gap, remove resistance to reality and thereby adjusting the Image, closing the gap.

The Navigator is our link to the Source of time and space; the Source of all things. The Navigator is a higher intelligence that transcends the logic and ratio of the Captain or the emotion of the Crew. There are many concepts representing this Navigator, like the Soul. It reminds all of us individually that we are part of a bigger whole where there is no separation and all is One. The Captain, The Crew, The Ship & Self Image are things we have. The Navigator is what we are.

One can make a direct connection to the Navigator to acquire clarity about the projected destination (Destiny) and how your repeated actions (habits) determine your direction.

Buddha’s Beach

An exercise of ‘meditative medicine’ as an interface for the conscious and subconscious mind. It enables one to establish connections with hard to reach areas of one’s consciousness. One can strengthen, sharpen and elicit the placebo effect here as well. It contains elements of visualisations and hypnotherapy, but the idea is that one learns how to get there by oneself. The visualising is an aid to ‘trick’ the senses into buying into this imagination, so the body starts to produce the same chemicals as it would if that would be the reality. For this reason, I like to call it a sensitisation.
